June 22, 2013 One Day Class

This June, the Grand Lodge of Masons of Massachusetts is holding a One Day Class for lodges to take advantage of. This class was scheduled for lodges that wanted their candidates who visited during the Open House to complete one or more degrees before the craft is called from labor to refreshment for the summer.

The Valley of Boston is co-sponsoring this degree class in conjunction with the Valley of Boston and Mount Olivet Chapter of Rose Croix in order to provide an opportunity for men to complete their degrees as courtesy candidates if this is the most convenient way for them to finish their degrees.

We are still looking to fill parts for the Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and Master Mason degrees being held that day.

If you are interested in participating in the work at the one day class, please contact R.W. Philip A. Drouin about your interest.

Family Life - Wine Tasting, June 8, 2013

Join us on Saturday, June 8th at the Boston Winery and Venezia Waterfront at 4:30pm for a tasting and a beautiful waterfront dinner.

Come sample the wine at Boston's only winery. This winery is the only winery of its kind in all of New England! Tucked inside a Civil War era brick and stone building beside the landmark Venezia Restaurant.

After the tasting, stretch your legs and step out to one of the patios on the waterfront to enjoy some hors d'oeuvres and some breathtaking views of the Boston Skyline. The owner of the winery, Ralph Bruno and his staff are fully prepared to offer us an elegant buffet dinner.

Information about registration will be forthcoming. Contact the Family Life Chairman, Alfredo Canhoto, for more information. Alfredo can be reached via e-mail at FamilyLife@ScottishRiteBoston.org or by phone at 617.875.2352.

Teddy Bear Classic - July 22, 2013

The 19th Annual Teddy Bear Classic Golf Tournament to benefit the J. Philip Berquist Children's Dyslexia Center of Greater Boston is taking place on Monday, July 22nd, 2013 at the Glen Ellen Country Club in Millis.

Millions of school children with dyslexia face potentially overwhelming challenges on a daily basis, often resulting in frustration and demoralization as they struggle to acquire skills that many of us take for granted. If your child is struggling with reading and writing, how do you know if dyslexia is the cause? Where can you go for help?

For over two decades, the Scottish Rite Freemasons of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, have been national leaders in the effort to help children and their families overcome the painful obstacles of dyslexia. The J. Philip Berquist Children's Dyslexia Center of Greater Boston was the first in what has grown to be an impressive 501(c)(3) charitable organization with more than 50 Dyslexia Centers in 13 states.

The event will begin with a shotgun start at 10:30am that morning. The Dyslexia Center is our main Scottish Rite charity. The center, brothers, needs your support and your friends want to enjoy your company on the golf course. Time flies by, and summer will be here before you know it!

Register to participate in the Teddy Bear Classic today! Bro. Thomas McClintock is the contact person for the event. He can be reached via phone at 781.255.8923 or by e-mail at tmclint@verizon.net.
