Grand Master's Class - November 2, 2013

To celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and to honor Most Worshipful Richard James Stewart's term as Grand Master, the Presiding Officers of the Valley of Boston cordially invite you to a special one-day class in his honor!

This one-day class will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2013 in Gothic Hall at the Boston Masonic building, 186 Tremont Street, Boston, Massachusetts. For your convenience, parking validation, a buffet breakfast, and lunch will be provided.

Our Grand Master has been very supportive of the Rite during his term. Just this past March, he opened the doors of the Grand Lodge to the Valley for the purposes of re-scheduling our Spring degrees due to a snow-related postponement.

We hope to return the favor of his hospitality by having a showing of our membership that displays our appreciation for his efforts.

Seating for this class is extremely limited, so the earlier you apply, the better! Download an application today, as we anticipate a large number of Master Masons joining us in celebrating this special event.

Q: How do you get to your destination Valleys?

A: Almost every way- I drive solo, bus, train, fly, taxi, carpool. I’ve taken a car from Nashua, NH to Albany, NY and back in one day. Same for the Valleys of Burlington, VT and New York City. I fly the least. I’ve only flown to Illinois and Wisconsin. I take the train a lot because it’s my favorite method of getting around. There’s plenty of room to get up and move around or get something to eat. You can also meet some interesting people or get tons of work done on train trips. I write a lot on my trips, usually on Freemasonry.

Q: You say there is a particular challenge for New Englanders to see all the degrees. Why?

A: This is absolutely correct, and a particular reason that requires Scottish Rite Masons from Massachusetts or New Hampshire (or any New England state) to travel to other states. Certain states south and west of us have it made, so-to-speak. Some singular Valleys cycle through all 29 degrees every 3-6 years, and some states are absolutely replete with Valleys in which to travel. Brethren who live in New York, Pennsylvania – even Ohio or Illinois, really have a ton of degrees to witness every fall or spring. Many states in the NMJ simply...
